Art Without Borders

Inspired by the work of Henry Clews, children from the local community created art
during their visit to the Château.
The results were exhibited in the Spencer Gallery with
visitors from around the world seeing Henry Clews’ work in a new way –
through the imagination of children.

Henry Clews’ art inspiring the artists of tomorrow

As a way of building relationships with children and families in La Napoule and making Henry and Marie Clews’ work come alive for a new generation, local schools are invited to spend time at the Château and then create art. If a children’s workshop occurs during one of the La Napoule Art Foundation international Artist Residencies, then some Resident Artists volunteer to share their work and techniques with local children.

Inspired by Henry Clews’ work and their visit to the Château, local children created this sculpture that was then exhibited in the Spencer Gallery.

I had no idea how rich this experience was going to be! When some children doubted themselves, I encouraged them to continue to create no matter where it took them. I’m so grateful to have experienced such a rich cultural exchange.

– Louise Laffaille, Alumna, spring 2018, describes her experience leading a children’s workshop at the Château during her Residency.
